Are you breaking one of the ten commandments by not resting?
Rest is freedom from activity or labor.
"Remember the Sabbath day by keeping it holy. Six days you shall labor and do all your work. but the seventh day is a sabbath to the Lord your God. On it shall not do any work, neither you nor your son or daughter, nor male or female servant, nor animals, nor any foreigner residing in your town. For in six days the Lord made the heavens and the earth, the sea, and all that is in then, but he rested on the seventh day. Therefore the Lord blessed the sabbath day and made it holy. Exodus 20:8-11
I know that nowadays a lot of us correlate rest to laziness. However it is a commandment from God that we should only be working 6 days out of the 7 we get each week. If you follow me on instagram (follow here), you know for the entire month of February I was bed ridden or was supposed to be.
But, what a lot of people don't know is that God kept warning me to rest and slow down. Day after day I would just say God I will when I get to February 7th, my planned vacation date. Looking on social media, screenshotting post after post saying team no sleep, if you want it you will sacrifice for it, and so forth and so on. So I just kept pushing laying my head down at 5am waking up by 8am night after night. Boy did I sacrifice for it.
Literally two days before vacation I woke up sweating profusely but freezing to the point of losing color in my fingers and toes with unexplainable aches. But, the week before that I was at the doctor for lowered iron and vitamin D. So my body was screaming to be taken care of. I just didn't want to disappoint anyone by rescheduling or getting something out late. So I ended up with the flu that ended up turning into bronchitis right before my vacation to Disney.
So here, I was having to cancel, reschedule and postpone everything that I didn't want to in the first place. It was mind blowing how hard it was to just rest. I mean it had got so bad I had drove my car to the pharmacy the day before to pick up my prescription but the next day when I was trying to go to school my battery was dead like really dead. God said loud and clear didn't I tell you to rest.
It was like the more I tried to work around it, the worst I felt to the point I was two and a half weeks in and had no choice but to surrender. But, once I got a hang of it, it was transformative to my business, to my health and to my household.
So, I said all this to say don't allow the world to rush you to the point of breaking one of the ten commandments. If God rested on the 7th day so should you. Remember, when you stay in the lane God creates for you, you are the one that creates the speed limit so you can go at your own pace.
Have you been resting? Remember this is a judgement free zone.
